Robotic Surgery

What is Robotic Surgery?

Robotic surgery uses a console where the surgeon controls precise instruments inside the body. The system provides a magnified 3D view and instruments that can bend and rotate beyond the range of the human hand, allowing very precise movements in confined spaces.

Mr Moussa is trained on two robotic platforms: Versius (CMR) and Intuitive (da Vinci). He uses robotic surgery for selected Upper GI and general surgical procedures where it can offer advantages in precision and recovery.

Benefits of Robotic Surgery

For suitable patients, benefits can include smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain, and a faster return to normal activities. The technology can be especially helpful in complex or confined anatomy. Not every procedure or patient is suited to robotics; Mr Moussa will discuss whether it is the right option for you.

Where is Robotic Surgery Offered?

Robotic Upper GI and general surgery is delivered at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust and at selected private hospitals. Your consultation will cover whether robotic surgery is appropriate for your condition and how to access it.
