Skin Lumps & Lipomas
What are Skin Lumps and Lipomas?
Skin lumps can be caused by a variety of conditions. Lipomas are common, benign (non-cancerous) fatty lumps that sit under the skin. They are usually soft, mobile, and painless but can be removed if they cause discomfort, are enlarging, or for cosmetic reasons. Other lumps (cysts, lymph nodes, etc.) need assessment to confirm the diagnosis and decide on the best management.
Mr Moussa assesses lumps in the skin and soft tissues and can arrange removal when appropriate. If there is any doubt about the diagnosis, further investigation or referral may be recommended.
Removal and Recovery
Removal is usually done under local or general anaesthetic depending on the size and site. Incisions are kept as small as possible to minimise scarring. You will receive advice on wound care and follow-up. Most procedures are straightforward with a quick recovery.
